| Bio: | Welcome to The Trailing Edge, the journal of a professional copy editor / mommy / fantasy writer in quest of publication. My LJ is mostly about nothing in particular, sometimes about my life, my family (particularly my five-year-old daughter, known here as Shaina Punim -- Yiddish for "pretty face" -- or SP) and friends, what I'm reading, what I'm writing, what I'm cooking or baking, what I'm singing (or listening to), and (in a vague, quasi-anonymous way) what I'm editing. Also, sometimes I post photos, memes and blogthings, but I try to put anything excessively long under a cut. I'm a faculty brat, originally from Calgary, AB (you know, where the 1988 Winter Olympics were held?), and now living in Toronto -- which I love, except for the crazy-ass real-estate prices and the crappy weather. I'm 33 years old and don't know how to drive. I do, however, know how to play cat's cradle, make really good cheesecake, fix Microsloth Weird so it kind of works, edit legal footnotes, get almost anywhere in the city by public transit, make origami cranes and peacocks and little boxes for the cranes to sleep in, sing Friday night Kiddush, sing any choral part from first soprano down to tenor as directed, bake challah, put a cranky baby to sleep, hand out tips on surviving chemotherapy, identify numerous Alberta tree species, sing lullabies in five languages, entertain a toddler on a six-hour aeroplane flight, remember the phone numbers of my high school friends, explain how commas work, and make an omelette, so I think it all balances out. :^) | |
